Lesson 26 – Holster Selection and Safety

The holster is one of the most important pieces of defensive gear you will choose. It must secure the firearm, protect the trigger, and allow safe, consistent access under stress.

✅ A Good Holster Must:

  • Fully cover the trigger and trigger guard
  • Hold the firearm securely with proper retention
  • Allow a smooth and consistent draw
  • Fit the firearm model exactly (no “one size fits most” solutions)

⚠️ Avoid Unsafe Holsters:

  • Soft cloth or nylon holsters that collapse or shift easily
  • Generic-fit holsters that do not hold the firearm tightly
  • Holsters without trigger protection

🔁 Practice with Your Holster:

  • Draw and reholster with an unloaded firearm until it’s second nature
  • Be alert when reholstering — do not “speed reholster” in a real incident
  • Use proper belt support to prevent printing or shifting

Never compromise safety for convenience. A quality holster is a non-negotiable part of carrying responsibly.
