Minnesota Personal Protection Act

The Minnesota Personal Protection Act (PPA), passed in 2003, affirms your legal right to carry a firearm for personal protection. This law recognizes that responsible, law-abiding citizens should have the ability to defend themselves and others from serious threats.

Carrying a firearm is not a right to be taken lightly. It comes with responsibility, legal obligations, and the need for training. This course is designed to help you understand those responsibilities and confidently exercise your right under Minnesota law.

📜 Pertinent Law – MN Statute 624.714 Subd. 1a:

A person… may carry a pistol in a public place only if the person has in possession a permit to carry the pistol and is acting in compliance with the terms of the permit and the requirements of this section.

This training will help you understand what those “terms and requirements” are — and how to remain on the right side of the law at all times.
