Post-Incident Protocol
If you ever use your firearm in self-defense, your actions in the minutes that follow are critical. What you do and say can affect your legal outcome.
📞 Call 911 Immediately:
- Report only what’s necessary: “I was attacked. Shots fired. Send police and medical.”
- Give your location clearly and stay on the line if instructed
🧍 When Police Arrive:
- Keep your firearm holstered unless told otherwise
- Hands visible — no sudden movements
- Comply fully and without argument
🗣️ Statements to Law Enforcement:
- Provide basic identifying info
- Say: “I am willing to cooperate. I would like to speak to my attorney before answering further questions.”
- Do not justify or explain — let your attorney handle that
This is not the time to explain or defend your actions. Keep it simple, stay calm, and protect your rights by involving legal counsel immediately.
