Davey Defense – Minnesota Permit to Carry

Lesson 10.4: Traveling With Firearms

Traveling with firearms requires planning.

A firearm that is lawful in one place may create legal problems somewhere else.

Check Before You Travel

Before traveling with a firearm, check the law for every state or area you will enter.

Know whether you may carry, whether you must transport, where firearms are restricted, and what rules apply during the trip.

Carry Is Not Transport

Carrying a firearm for immediate defensive use is not the same as transporting a firearm from one lawful place to another.

If carry is not lawful where you are going, you must know how to transport the firearm lawfully before you get there.

Air and Border Travel

Air travel and international travel have separate rules.

Check TSA, airline, and border requirements before traveling with a firearm.

Davey Defense Standard

Check the law where you are going before you travel.

If you do not know the rule, you are not ready to travel with the firearm.
