Davey Defense – Minnesota Permit to Carry

Lesson 8.1: Holster Selection and Trigger Protection

Purpose of This Lesson

A holster is safety equipment.

It must secure the firearm, protect the trigger, and support safe daily carry.

Holster Requirements

A proper holster must fit the firearm, hold it securely, and fully cover the trigger guard.

If the trigger can be pressed while the firearm is holstered, the holster is not appropriate for carry.

Avoid loose, collapsing, or poorly fitted holsters.

Support and Reholstering

A proper belt or support system helps keep the firearm stable.

Reholster slowly and deliberately. Clear clothing first. Keep your finger off the trigger.

If something feels wrong, stop.

Davey Defense Standard

A carry holster must do three things:

  1. Hold the firearm securely.
  2. Fully protect the trigger.
  3. Stay stable during normal movement.

If it cannot do those things, it does not belong in your carry system.
